Some years ago, Monty swapped Sydney for Western Australia, where alongside his corporate career he began pursuing his passion for music. With a singing voice uncannily like the legendary Johnny Cash and a love of his music, Monty created A Boy Named Cash, his greatest-hits tribute to the Man in Black.
Since then, Monty has taken A Boy Named Cash across Australia and the UK, performing at arts festivals, corporate events, rodeos, musters, weddings, cruise ships, pubs and clubs, mine sites, breakfast radio and morning television. Along the way, he has appeared on The Voice Australia and performed sold-out shows at Edinburgh Fringe, Adelaide Fringe and Perth FRINGE WORLD, earning ★★★★★ reviews.
Beyond Johnny Cash, Monty performs a broad mix of country, rock and roll, Australian classics and contemporary pop and rock. His energetic, audience-engaging style and musical versatility have made him a popular choice for corporate events, weddings, festivals, private parties, pubs and clubs across Australia.
With Monty Cotton & The Threads, Monty is joined by some of WA's finest musicians, bringing together fiddle, upright double bass and a rotating mix of instruments including banjo, mandolin, didgeridoo, loops and stomp box. The band puts its own spin on classic and contemporary favourites, blending country, bluegrass, rock and pop into a high-energy live show built around great musicianship and plenty of audience interaction.
From Johnny Cash and country classics to Australian favourites and modern hits, Monty's shows are all about live music, entertainment and getting the audience involved.
